Aligned with the Race to Zero challenge, we have begun the implementation of the Energy Management System (SGE/ISO 50001) in all operations, to improve the energy performance of each task, reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, accelerating the transition to renewable or low-carbon alternatives.
Race to Zero is the UN-backed global campaign that brings together non-state actors in the global economy to take immediate and rigorous action to cut emissions in half by 2030 and achieve a healthier, carbon-free and on-time world.
Our Commitment: Reduce emissions in all areas quickly and fairly in line with the Paris Agreement, with transparent action plans and strong short-term targets. .
By participating in Race To Zero, SQM is committed to meeting the following requirements:
1. Commitment: Commit to reaching (net) zero as soon as possible and set an interim target on your part for 50% reduction by 2030.
2. Planning: within 24 months of accession, explain what steps will be taken to achieve the interim and longer-term commitments.
3. Proceed: Take immediate and significant actions consistent with the specified short- and long-term objectives.
4. Report and publish: Report progress annually by publishing your goals on a public platform.
