ILIA


ILIA is the global trade association for the lithium industry and represents the entire lithium value chain. The Association was established in 2021 as a non-profit international industry association run by and for its members.

The Chilean Industrial Chemical Association (ASIQUIM) includes 120 companies from the industrial chemical industry. In Chile, ASIQUIM implements Responsible Care, a global initiative that promotes sustainable development of the chemical industry. We also serve on the board of ASIQUIM’s Commission for Northern Chile in Antofagasta. More information

The International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA) represents between 75-80% of global fertilizer production, including producers, sales and distribution. More information

Initiative for the Assurance of Responsible Mining


IRMA is an international standard that certifies social and environmental performance at mine sites globally. Its rigor makes it a source of reference for a wide range of stakeholders. More information

A voluntary certification and commitment by chemical companies to perfect the production, handling, distribution, use and disposal processes for their products. The companies aim toward the highest health and safety standards for their employees and surrounding communities while protecting the environment, company and community assets. More information

ECOVADIS


Ecovadis is a sustainability ratings provider that uses a methodology based on international standards, including the United Nations Global Compact Global Reporting Initiative and ISO 26000. More information

NCh 3262, Gender Equality


NCh 3262 (2012) on Gender Equality and Work-Life Balance is a voluntary standard that can be implemented in any organization. To incorporate gender perspective into companies, the UN Development Program (UNDP) recommended that all countries create programs to certify gender equality management systems. More information

Chile Footprint


Huella Chile encourages public and private-sector companies to manage Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions in order to mitigate the country's emissions. The program awards recognition beginning with carbon footprint measurement through the declaration of excellence. More information

The leading environmental initiative for the European port sector. As such, it offers a series of environmental management tools based on EcoPorts PERS guidelines, global standards and the voluntary commitments that exceed regulatory requirements. More information

ISO 9001: 2015


In 2018 we obtained the certification of lithium production and marketing processes under the ISO 9001: 2015 standard. In 2019 we renewed the certification for 3 years for Lithium Carbonate and Lithium Hydroxide in its industrial, technical and battery grades. More information

ISO TC 333 Lithium


In 2020 we joined the ISO / TC 333 Lithium International Committee with the mission of contributing - with all our experience acquired in more than 20 years producing lithium compounds - in the study of those technical regulations necessary to expand its value chain. More information

SUSTAINABILITY REPORT

In our Sustainability Report, we ratify the full and inalienable commitment to sustainability. This is an important exercise in transparency and management that we have been carrying out since 2010, and that helps us to connect with our stakeholders, following the Global Reporting Initiative guidelines for its preparation and external verification.

LITHIUM LIFE CYCLE

At SQM Lithium we work on production processes under strict national and international standards. For this reason, one of the most important actions of the operation is to measure the impact of lithium production, both on the environment and in communities and areas of operation. It is about the Life Cycle analysis, a management tool that allows us to define the levels of CO2, energy and water consumption.

SALAR DE ATACAMA ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING PLAN

In the Environmental Impact Study of the project “Changes and Improvements in the Mining Operation in the Salar de Atacama”, one of the commitments established in the Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA) corresponds to the implementation of an Environmental Monitoring Plan, which aims to assess the state of the Salar de Atacama systems over time

HYDROGEOLOGICAL MANAGEMENT SALAR DE ATACAMA

The Salar de Atacama, as it is known today, was formed over several thousand years by a continuous process of natural evaporation. The saline brine, a highly concentrated saline solution in the subsoil, was also created by this natural process called the hydrological cycle.

ONLINE MONITORING

Committed to the sustainability and efficient management of resources in the Salar de Atacama, we have the website "SQM Online"; whose environmental monitoring system allows us to report, on a daily basis, on the extraction of industrial water, brine, and background information on environmental matters. An act of transparency that works as a means of verification for authorities, community and interested parties.
