LITHIUM LIFE CYCLE

At SQM Lithium we work on production processes under strict national and international standards. For this reason, one of the most important actions of the operation is to measure the impact of lithium production, both on the environment and in communities and areas of operation. It is about the Life Cycle analysis, a management tool that allows us to define the levels of CO2, energy and water consumption.

SALAR DE ATACAMA ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING PLAN

In the Environmental Impact Study of the project “Changes and Improvements in the Mining Operation in the Salar de Atacama”, one of the commitments established in the Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA) corresponds to the implementation of an Environmental Monitoring Plan, which aims to assess the state of the Salar de Atacama systems over time

HYDROGEOLOGICAL MANAGEMENT SALAR DE ATACAMA

The Salar de Atacama, as it is known today, was formed over several thousand years by a continuous process of natural evaporation. The saline brine, a highly concentrated saline solution in the subsoil, was also created by this natural process called the hydrological cycle.

ONLINE MONITORING

Committed to the sustainability and efficient management of resources in the Salar de Atacama, we have the website "SQM Online"; whose environmental monitoring system allows us to report, on a daily basis, on the extraction of industrial water, brine, and background information on environmental matters. An act of transparency that works as a means of verification for authorities, community and interested parties.
