Responsible Care

A voluntary certification and commitment by chemical companies to perfect the production, handling, distribution, use and disposal processes for their products. The companies aim toward the highest health and safety standards for their employees and surrounding communities while protecting the environment, company and community assets.

Our Commitment: Abide by the six basic principles of Responsible Care: continual improvement in environmental, health and safety performance; efficient use of resources; listen to, integrate and work with the surrounding community; and provide assistance to promote responsible management of chemical products. SQM will also re-certify every three years.

We earned Responsible Care accreditation at Nueva Victoria for the first time in XNUMX. It was verified in XNUMX and is valid through XNUMX.

We are currently working toward starting the certification process for the Port of Tocopilla.

ASIQUIM leads the initiative in Chile.

Progress report

In our Sustainability Plan we define the pillar of "Our Environment", in which we aim to improve our understanding of the environment where we operate, in order to minimize the impact we produce. Thanks to our continuous investment in R&D, we have been able to increase our operational and energy efficiency, start recycling campaigns, establish stable relationships through co-created programs with the community. In 2020, ASIQUIM awarded the Responsible Care award to the Pozo Almonte Agricultural Research and Development Center in the Community Engagement Category, for its contribution to strengthening agricultural and livestock activity in the area, boosting the family economy.

All our impact information regarding emissions and water use is available in our Sustainability Report. Along with reporting to the competent authorities, we are working on an online platform to make our environmental measurements in the areas of influence publicly available.

We have been working on a policy of strengthening and expanding our local community presence to work with them and co-create shared social value. In 2020 and 2021, we have maintained relationship agreements that will further those engagement efforts.

All our products have safety sheets with instructions for using and handling our chemical products.
