At SQM we recognize the key role that entrepreneurs and startups play in the development of new technologies and the advancement of our society.
Through SQM Lithium Ventures, we seek to partner with entrepreneurs at all stages of growth, from day 1 to series A and beyond. Specifically, we are looking for startups that solve problems related to our three focus areas: lithium, water, and electromobility.
SQM Lithium Ventures operates two programs for startups:
โ Global Accelerator Program (for very early stage startups): $25,000 non-equity grant + optional convertible note, extensive mentoring.
โ Venture investments (up to series A): $1-3 million ticket size
While SQM is based in Chile, we are agnostic to geography, and we encourage teams from anywhere in the world to apply.
What are the focus areas of SQM Lithium Ventures?
1. Lithium ๐. Technologies to improve hydrometallurgical, chemical, energy processes, carbon footprint, or any process related to lithium production.
2. Water ๐ง. Technologies to promote efficient water consumption, reduce loss and evaporation, and promote water availability.
3. Electromobility โก. Any initiative to advance or generate value in the electromobility space.
What does the Global Acceleration Program include?
โ Financing: $25,000 non-equity grant to build your business (with additional financing available through an optional convertible note, subject to approval).
โ Preparation for fundraising: access to local and global fundraising networks, including SQM's own venture fund, for subsequent rounds.
โ Advisory Council: Composed of technical mentors from SQM and the Endeavor global network.
โ Business workshops: Online programs led by experts in relevant areas.
โ Community development and networking events: Meet other participants and our organization; opportunities to visit (and even test products at) SQM plants and the Atacama salt flat.
